Consistory
The consistory is the foremost decision-making body of the church.
It consists of six elders whose main responsibility is the spiritual
oversight of the congregation and six deacons whose responsibility
include stewardship and benevolence. All the other organizations
of the church are under the authority of the consistory. The Consistory
meets regularly on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.
Task Force
HRC has five Task Forces whose job is to assist the consistory in
the day to day administration of the church. Task Forces are composed
of consistory members and other members of the congregation. Each
Task Force sets their own meeting time and date-they meet regularly
once a month.
MESA-Mission/Evangelism/Social/Action Task Force
supports our missionaries, promotes evangelism, organizes work projects,
and informs the congregation of social action concerns.
Congregational Care Task Force is concerned with
promoting fellowship and encouraging and comforting those in special
need.
Education Task Force oversees all the educational
programs in the church; e.g. Catechism, Vacation Bible School, Sunday
School, RCYF, etc.
Building and Ground Task Force is responsible
for maintaining the church, parsonage and church grounds.
Worship Task Force works with the pastor in planning
worship services and is responsible for church decor.
Junior High
Our seventh and eighth grade students attend Power Connection, a
weekend gathering held every two out of three years for Reformed
youth from the Synod of the Heartland at various locations throughout
the Midwest.
Nursery
A nursery is provided every Sunday morning during the worship service.
We also have volunteers who help take care of small children during
Youth Night, Vacation Bible School and other special occasions.
Sunday
School
Our Sunday School program is a very important part of education
our children, youth and adults. They meet each Sunday morning before
the worship service. The children begin attending Sunday School
classes at three years of age. Classes are offered for every grade
level through the twelfth grade. The freshman and sophomores study
the Heidelberg Catechism, September through May. We have two adult
classes for adults of all ages.
Vacation Bible School
The first week after school gets out in June we have Vacation Bible
School. A lot of planning and work goes into this week. Children
from age three years old through sixth grade attend. Many adults,
Jr. High and High School Students get involved as teachers and helpers.
The Sunday morning after the completion of Bible School a program
is held for family and friends so they may hear the songs and see
what the children have learned and made during the week. It is a
great outreach to our community as some children attend from different
backgrounds. We have a potluck dinner after the program on the church
grounds. This is also our annual all-church picnic with games for
everyone. We end the picnic with ice cream and then have our evening
service at approximately 3:00 p.m.
RCYF
We have a very active and successful RCYF program here at Hope Reformed
Church. The High School Youth Group meets Wednesday nights at 7:30
p.m. during the school year with a membership of 26 young people.
There is a consistent attendance of at least 20 young people on
any given Wednesday night. The pastor and two couples have been responsible
for the Wednesday night activities in the past.
The young people grow in their faith through Bible study, videos,
and games. The RCYF has various activities throughout the year including:
attending Christian concerts, purchasing gifts for the Samaritan's
Purse Project, helping to package rebuilt wheelchairs, and other
recreational activities (bowling, ice skating, etc.). There are
also a few yearly fundraising activities such as: submarine sandwich
sales, Christmas wreath sales, and a church bake-off. The money
raised is used to pay for activities throughout the year, adopting
a World Vision child and paying for the cost of Rocky Mountain High
(a young people's retreat held every third year).
The RCYF is also kept involved in the church services by participating
in the White Gift Program at Christmas
time, running a youth night service once a year, and occasionally
providing special music.
Youth
Night
Our Youth Night runs from September through May on Wednesday evenings.
It has something to offer for second grade through twelfth grade.
We have catechism classes for second through eighth grade and RCYF
for ninth through twelfth grade. Three choirs practice on Wednesday
nights: youth choir (grades two to four), junior choir (grades five
to eight) and teen choir (grades nine to twelve). We have a youth
bell choir that practices both on Sunday mornings and occasionally
on Wednesday nights.
